No matter the kind of day we've had, I find such peace in watching them sleep!

Monkey Business

So, we were at the chimpanze exhibit at the zoo and the kids are looking at this one chimp laying right next to the window. Her butt looked pretty gross; the kids kept saying "ieuwwwww, look at her butt, what is wrong with it?" The adults were speculating about whether or not she was giving birth. Well, we got our answer when a male chimpanze mounted her for the ride of his life right there in front of the window. It was a scene right out of national geographic-uncensored. Turns out it is mating season and the female was in heat.

"When a female chimpanzee comes into heat - or into estrus, as a scientist would say - the sex skin of her genital area becomes swollen...." Click here for image. Well, I am not a scientist, but-
You Think??

The exhibit cleared so fast as the parents ushered their children out from in front of the window that you would have thought that a bomb went off. Nature at its finest is not always pretty!

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

I took the munchkins to the zoo recently and met a good friend there that I have not seen in years. The last time I think I saw her was when I was pregnant with Sprite and she just turned 3!! And now she has an adorable little boy that is 2 and a half!!

Needlessto say, we had a lot of catchhing up to do but we did manage to see a few animals...

I have a funny story to share about our zoo trip that I'll share next...

What's Wrong With This Picture

I don't know about you but we don't typically place our trampoline vertically- makes it kind of hard to bounce that way. :)

We just had a severe storm come through. It literally lasted 10 minutes and manged to pick up our trampoline from from it's legs and carry it across the yard to the field behind the playset. It also managed to bend our flagpole right in half! Now we have blue skies and sunshine!
Gotta love NC Summers!
